Jagex and Games by Malcs are thrilled to announce that cosy incremental game Melvor Idle will be joining the lineup for the 5th Edition of Green Game Jam, a flagship initiative organised by the Playing for the Planet Alliance to promote action-led environmental changes.
Melvor Idle is a RuneScape-inspired idle/incremental game with feature-rich mechanics and a heightened player experience at the centre. In celebration of Green Game Jam 2024, Melvor Idle will commemorate the event with Melvor Active, a real-world activity that highlights three specific skills to encourage positive change and more sustainable lifelong habits for all players which launched on Monday 9th September.
Carve out a more sustainable life with three key themes: Food, Waste, and Restoration. These tie-in to Melvor Idle’s in-game skills in Farming, Cooking, and Crafting. Each week from September 9th to September 30th, one of these skills will be highlighted to encourage Melvor Idle fans to engage with more positive habits that benefit living more sustainably in real life.
Harvest scraps of food for composting, collect seeds from cooking to regrow produce, and try new recipes inspired by those in Melvor Idle, using crafting to create items and recycle old materials into something new. Research has shown that small, incremental changes motivate people to continue to do more when it comes to climate action. Melvor Idle will lean into this learning by using a continuous cycle and encourage participants to make small alterations that lead to real change.
Melvor Active will feature in Melvor Idle alongside Green Game Jam 2024 from September 9th to September 30th. Players are encouraged to share their participation on social media, tagging #GreenGameJam and using a series of themed stickers to decorate their photos.
