CI Games’ home for highly ambitious, lovingly-crafted videogames, has released Beyond Galaxyland, developed by Chicago-based music producer-turned-game developer, Sam ‘EnrightBeats’ Enright. Available on PC, PlayStation®5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch™, Beyond Galaxyland is an adventure RPG inspired by some of the most classic sci-fi movies of the 1980s, and iconic turn-based RPGs of the 1990s.
Set among the eponymous Galaxyland, the game follows Doug, a highschooler whisked away – along with his pet guinea pig, Boom Boom – to the zoo-like collection of planets just moments before Earth’s destruction by a celestial destroyer of worlds known only as ‘The End’. As Doug embarks on an interplanetary quest that sees him explore Galaxyland’s diverse planets, he’s joined by a ragtag medley of new and old friends in a courageous effort to discover the truth… and somehow undo the apocalypse of our home world.
Developed by Enright as a one-person passion project, Beyond Galaxyland modernises the beloved, old-skool RPG experience with an engaging and eclectic mix of classic platforming and puzzle solving, turn-based combat, epic boss battles, as well as a capture/summons mechanic that allows Doug to unleash the fauna he battles in future fights.
Sam Enright, creator of Beyond Galaxyland, said: “It has been an incredible, personal journey for me over the past six years – and I cannot believe that Doug and Boom Boom’s story is finally out there for people to enjoy. It’s a heartfelt homage to some of the best childhood memories I have, of playing seminal RPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII and watching iconic sci-fi like Star Wars and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I really hope people enjoy this story set across the stars, and they find success in helping get Doug back home to a saved Earth.”
Tom O’Connor, SVP of Development, United Label, said: “Working with Sam to help realise his vision for Beyond Galaxyland has been an honour for everyone involved at United Label. The game stands on the shoulders of giants, and really introduces a fun and compelling experience for players – whether they’re long-time genre fans as Sam himself is, or if they’re newcomers looking for a foothold into adventure RPGs.”
